be galvanized to use these discarded objects–at once terribly personal and expendable–in how that reflects the way during which mass transit joins several various lives into one moment or path along. The Metrocard represents movement for folks; Metrobench may be a purpose of rest for people. several New Yorkers, with their separate lives, are brought along on the transit system daily. during this sculptural seat, each card, with its distinct and intimate history is stitched along into a fluid tapestry. Metrobench was assembled utterly by hand, card by card. Using Craigslist, I harnessed the folks of latest York to assist me gather five,000 Metrocards in underneath per week. there's one thing terribly personal concerning handling such a big amount of little belongings that were once riding around in peoples’ pockets.
